Sometimes the most unexpected ideas come right during work meetings. That’s exactly what happened with our team: colleagues from Marketing and the Operations Department suggested using the scale screens in our stores as an advertising channel. Before, the scales only showed the weight — now they’ve become a new way to communicate with Magnum customers.
After the first discussions, it became clear that we needed to fully automate the process for the project to work effectively. Our colleagues from the Automation Department proposed uploading ads through a robot and Telegram — fast, centralized, and without extra steps. The robot manages content on hundreds of scales, and Telegram sends notifications about every launch and update.
In just one month, the first ads appeared on the scale screens, and customers immediately noticed the change. Today, the screens on more than 700 scales across Kazakhstan show not only products, but also job openings, promotions, and useful announcements — turning into a new communication channel with our customers.
Project member Dinara says: “Scales can stay silent, or they can speak. We chose the second — and turned waiting time into an opportunity to communicate with the customer.”
For the company, this is a new source of revenue and a modern brand image. For the team, it’s pride in an idea that brought different departments together and took our technology to the next level.
The team proved once again: even familiar processes can become innovative when you look at them from a wider perspective.

At first glance, it’s just an Instagram page with fun and beautiful photos and videos. But @magnumlife.kz is much more — it’s a real window into life at Magnum. Instead of price tags and discounts, you’ll find people, emotions, and opportunities. We show who we are, what we believe in, how we work, and who we’re looking for.
What can you find on our page?
Jas bol is more than just a corporate podcast. It’s a platform where we openly discuss what truly matters to employees and the company. Here, you’ll hear the stories of people who make Magnum stronger every day, sharing their experiences, motivation, and ideas.
The first episode of the podcast was released in 2022, and by 2023 Jas bol was recognized as the Best Career Podcast of 2023 at the XIII Central Asian "Best Corporate Media-2023" competition within the annual International PR Forum!
Pentawards is the first and most prestigious competition in the field of global packaging design. It's like the Oscars in cinema, only in design. The Tompi brand became the first representative from Kazakhstan and all of Central Asia to receive this award!
"Tompi" is a unique product, it is entirely produced in Kazakhstan (in Shymkent) and developed by the Magnum design team! Fun fact: The name Tompi comes from the Kazakh word meaning "Chubby" - a term of endearment commonly used to refer to small children.
Razia Akhmetzhanova, Creative Director, told what is unique about the Tompi brand:
In our creative idea, we invite parents to imagine their children in their happy future, where they realize themselves. Each package features a drawing depicting different professions with photographs of children of different nationalities, and a QR code for free download of lullabies in the Kazakh language.
The Pentawards award is a significant event not only for Magnum, where we participated on the same level with famous world brands: Pepsico, Unilever, Xiomi, KELLOGG (Pringles), etc., but also for the whole of Kazakhstan, as the only winner in the packaging design industry.
We congratulate the project participants and want to say thank you for your involvement and creativity!
